Electric Cars Are Fast

The performance of electric cars has been in question over recent years. With the electric car being put into a serious motorsport in Formula e and the release of the impressive Tesla Model S, the electric car is now standing it's ground.

What's more, we've found this...

This is the Renault Twizy F1. Built in 2013, this heavily modified version of Renault's entry level electric car has been given a power boost from 17bhp to 97bhp. This is thanks to an F1 grade KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System, remember?) system being bolted to the car's electric motor generator unit (MGU). The result - 0-62mph in about 7.5 seconds.

Here's Sebastian Vettel giving it a go.
